Dr. Maulana Karenga was a major figure in the black power movement in the 1960s and 1970s, he’s the creator of the African-American holiday Kwanzaa, and is currently the Chair of the Africana Studies Department at California State University-Long Beach. On February 1, 2013, Dr. Karenga will help the University of Cincinnati welcome Black History Month with his lecture "The History of Black Cultural Institutions in America."
