The 28th Annual

Great Plains Operator Theory Symposium

June 17 (evening) - June 22 (noon), 2008 at Department of Mathematical Sciences of the University of Cincinnati.

Supported by:
National Science Foundation (NSF),
The Charles Phelps Taft Research Center,
Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA),
Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI),
and the Office of Research, Provost Office, Graduate School, College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Cincinnati.

1. Program

See the link "Schedule of talks" for plenary lectures and 20 minute talks on Operator Algebras and Operator Theory.

Participants and especially junior participants are encouraged to give a talk. "Veteran" GPOTS attendees are encouraged to ask graduate students and others new to GPOTS to come.

Scientific Committee: R. Curto (Iowa), M. Dadarlat (Purdue), K. Davidson (Waterloo), R. Douglas (Texas A&M), D. Larson (Texas A&M).

2. Partial Financial Support

As is customary, participant support will be given according to reverse seniority, i.e., students will have priority, followed by postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty, and finally senior faculty.

Formal letters of invitation will be provided to participants if needed to secure funds from their institutions.

3. A important announcement

This conference is supported in part by the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) through its Participating Institute (PI) Program. Participating Institutes may use IMA/PI funds to support travel of their personnel to this conference.

Therefore if you are a member of a Participating Institute, you are strongly urged to seek travel expenses directly from IMA.

For this, written approval from the department chair, authorizing the use of PI funds to support travel expenses is needed. (e-mail is fine). This approval should be sent to Ines Foss at Foss@ima.umn.edu. Further information about this process may be obtained from her. A list of IMA Participating Institutes is available at http://www.ima.umn.edu/partic2.html/
