Cabinet Positions

I.  Associate Vice President of Campus Relations:

The Associate Vice President of Campus Relations is responsible for overseeing as well as reporting to the Vice-President of the Student Body all matters concerning the following positions:

(a) Director of Campus Services: This director will be responsible for keeping student government informed on issues and concerns that relate to campus services.  Campus services include – but are not limited to – residence hall life, dining facilities, Mainstreet facilities, campus bookstore, CRC, parking, and other auxiliary services.  This director shall be responsible for proposing legislation and implementing initiatives that relate to campus services to better serve the student body.

(b) Director of Greek Affairs: This director shall act as a liaison between Student Government and the SALD office.  This director will be responsible for informing Student Government of programs, issues, and concerns related to Greek Life at the university.  This director shall be selected from the current membership of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inter-Fraternity Council or the Panhellenic Council.

(c) Director of Transportation Services: This director shall be responsible for assisting with all entities involved with the Bearcat Transportation System.  This director shall also assist with the promotion and marketing of the system.

(d) Director of Commuter Services: This director will be responsible for keeping student government informed on issues and concerns that relate to commuter students.  This director shall lead commuter student forums and other activities that will enhance the commuter student’s UC experience.

(e) Director of General Health and Fitness: This director shall be responsible for implementing educational programming and serving to inform students regarding general health and fitness issues.  The director shall work with health related departments and organizations within the university to assist students to maintain healthy lives.

 

 

II. Associate Vice President of Community Relations: The Associate Vice President of Community Relations is responsible for overseeing as well as reporting to the Vice-President of the Student Body all matters concerning the following positions:

 

(a) Director of Governmental Affairs: This director shall be responsible for working to stay current on all issues concerning state and federal governments.  This director shall lead student voter registration drives and student voter education, and shall raise awareness of the student body on the aforementioned subjects through programming targeted at current political topics.

 

(b) Director of City Relations: This director will be responsible for developing relations with the Cincinnati City Council for Student Government. This person is responsible for attending City Council meetings and preparing a report of City Council activity back to the Undergraduate Student Senate. This person will work closely with the executives and other directors with projects involving the City of Cincinnati.

 

(c) Director of Community Affairs: This director will be responsible for keeping current on all community legislation and other activities that affect the student body.  This shall include attendance at City Council and Community Councils when necessary.  This director will also be responsible for other projects as designated by the Student Government Executives.

 

(d) Director of Community Service: This director will be responsible for keeping Student Government informed on all issues, concerns, and activities of groups dealing with community service on campus and in the community.  This director will also oversee all volunteer, service, and philanthropic projects that are undertaken by Student Government.

 

(e) Director of Veteran’s Affairs: This director will be responsible for implementing educational programming and serving as an advocate for Veteran’s issues.  This director will also be responsible for informing Student Government of programs, issues, and concerns related to Veteran’s issues on campus and in the community and co-sponsorship of events.  This director will also serve as a liaison between other related organizations and departments. This director will be an honorably discharged veteran, or a current member of the active-duty, reserve or National Guard components of the Armed Forces of the United States to include the Coast Guard.

 

 

III.  Associate Vice President of Special Interests: The Associate Vice President of Special Interests is responsible for the administrative oversight of the Director of Ethnic and Cultural Affairs, the Director of Women’s Affairs, the Director of LGBTQ Affairs, the Director of Disability Services, and the Director of International Student Affairs. The Associate Vice President is also responsible for all parts associated with Special Interests Collaborative.  The Associate Vice President will report to the Vice-President of the student body on all matters concerning the following positions:

 

(a) Director of Ethnic and Cultural Affairs: This director will be responsible for informing Student Government of ethnic and cultural issues, concerns and programming around campus and in the community and for co-sponsoring and participating in cultural events.  This director, along with the committee members, will serve as liaisons between Student Government and student groups dealing with other cultures.  They will also be responsible for one awareness discussion per quarter, including summer.

 

(b) Director of Women’s Affairs: This director will be responsible for implementing educational programming and serving as an advocate for women’s issues.  This director will also be responsible for informing Student Government of programs, issues, and concerns related to women’s issues on campus and in the community and co-sponsorship of events.  This director will also serve as a liaison between other related organizations and departments.

 

(c) Director of LGBTQ Affairs: This director will address the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning students on the university campus.  This shall include co-sponsorship and input into possible legislation on issues that affect the LGBTQ community.

 

(d) Director of Disability Services: This director will be responsible for empowering Student Government to address the needs of students with disabilities. This director will also be responsible for communicating with Disability Affairs at the University on a regular basis, as well as branch campuses within our own institution.

 

(e) Director of International Student Affairs: This director will address the needs of undergraduate students who travel abroad to study at the University of Cincinnati. These students include exchange students, as well as, students pursuing the full-term of an undergraduate degree.  The focus of this director is to find ways to better welcome international students and include them in campus involvement.

 

IV. Assistants to the President and Vice-President: These positions assist the appropriate executive officer in execution of his/her duties.  This can include assisting with programming, legislative research, seeking out legislative issues, and acting as a liaison between the executives and their constituents.

 

V.  Design Director: This director shall be responsible for maintaining the Student Government Branding Policy.  These tasks include modifying existing and creating new media for Student Government event, communication, and internal operations.  This person shall maintain digital records of publications produced for Student Government and shall ensure that these data are protected and transitioned between academic years.

 

VI. Diversity Director: This director shall be responsible for assembling the members of his/her committee to assist the University and Student Government in the continuous development of a policy on diversity.  This person shall champion Student Government’s efforts in the creation and maintenance of this policy.  It is also the duty of this director to assist the members of student government to act more inclusively, including through quarterly education projects.

 

VII.  Finance Director: This director will be responsible, in cooperation with the Student Body President and Student Body Vice-President, for the oversight and administration of the Student Government budget.  This includes maintenance and tracking of all aspects of the budget for Student Senate and the Presidential Cabinet.  The director shall be required to attend all Student Senate meetings.

 

VIII. Office Director: This position will be responsible for all aspects of maintaining the Student Government office.  This shall include the acquisition of office supplies, maintenance and training on the Student Government technology services, and maintaining the office environment.  This division may include multiple assistant managers.

 

IX. Public Relations Director: This director will be responsible for coordination of the publicizing of Student Government events, programs, and services. This director shall be responsible for maintaining communication with the Cincinnati Enquirer and the News Record.

 

X. Sustainability Director: This director shall be responsible for informing Student Government on all issues related to the environment, both at the university and in the surrounding community.  This will include sponsorship and co-sponsorship of environmentally conscious events, and input into possible legislation that may affect aspects of the environment.  This director will also be responsible for coordinating activities and programs supporting a campus Sustainability initiative, and representing Student Government on PACES( President’s Advisory Committee on Environment & Sustainability).

 

XI. Technology Director: This director shall work to keep the student body informed on all issues surrounding the university and information technology.  This director shall be required to attend meetings within the university dealing with information technology and must have an extensive knowledge and experience in information technology.

 

XII. Web Director: This director will be responsible for keeping the Student Government website up to date with updates and incorporating new initiatives.  This director shall be responsible for proposing legislation and implementing initiatives that relate to the website to better serve the student body.

 

XIII. First Year Intern Program Director: This director will be responsible for the organization of the First year Intern Program which provides direction for first year students looking to become more involved within Student Government. This director will be the liaison between the first year students and the President. They will conduct the application and interview process, create a lesson plan for group meetings, and ensure that all interns are paired with a mentor.

XIV. Athletic Spirit Director: This director’s responsibility will be promoting a greater sense pride for the University of Cincinnati through all athletic events. This director will serve as the Student Government representative on the executive board of school spirit, and will act in the best interest of Student Government in promoting all athletic spirit events.
