Is Cincinnati on the Right "Track"?

CINCINNATI –On Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 2:00 pm the University of Cincinnati (UC) Student Government will be hosting an on-campus debate about issue 9—the anti-rail legislation. Mark Miller will be representing the Coalition Opposed to Additional Spending & Taxes (COAST) who is in favor of the referendum and Roxanne Qualls from Cincinnatians for Progress will argue the counter. The debate will take place in Tangeman University Center’s (TUC) Mainstreet Cinema. Wednesday’s debate is free and open to the public.

Issue 9 was proposed in opposition of railway plans in and through Cincinnati. Such rails include: Street Car systems, High Speed Rails and Trolley systems. If the referendum passes, it will prohibit Cincinnati public officials to spend money on any railway system without a city-wide majority vote.
